My name is Iva Dicau, a first year novice of the Holy Spirit Sisters in the Australian Province. I am originally from Fiji and joined the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters in March, 2005.

I am living in Ermington, Sydney in our Novitiate house with Mere, the other Novice, Elisabeth our Novice Directress and Sr. Christine Hassel, one of the community members. As novices, we have a very special program set apart and this is particularly focussing on developing a deeper relationship with God, learning more about the Traddition of our Congregation and its Charism and learning more about myself. As part of our program, we join the"Kairos" program which takes place every Wednesday and Thursday each week, until June. This program is for all the Novices from various congregation in Sydney. We come together with our Directresses to listen to some of the Speakers assigned for the day and, to share with each other our Charisms, our experiences of Religious Life, our struggles, what is life-giving to us, what are our hopes for the future of religious people and what are our contribution towards our universal church. We also participate in our Parish with jelping with the singing in the Choir, Readings and Communion Service.

As a Gospel community, we work hand in hand with one another in promoting " Life- giving Relationship" as a symbol of who we are as SSpS in our Novitiate community.

I am Magdalena and come from the heart of Europe, in Slovakia where I was brought up in a loving family.

I entered the convent in 1976.

The mission mandate on the occasion of my final vows led me to Ghana in Africa where I worked mainly as a teacher and a school chaplain for 9 years.

I am currently working as a pastoral care worker at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Concord.

Magdalena’s motto:

“Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.”
